My name is Wendell and I am a New York City based photographer who specializes in Event & Sports Photography. I have always been an avid sports fan who enjoyed "just taking pictures." In 2010 I decided it was time to combine my two passions into one. I began attending seminars with the New York City Digital Photography Workshop (nycdpw.com), and I then studied at the PhotoManhattan Photography School in New York (PhotoManhattan.com), where I completed courses on Digital Photography and Photography Composition. In 2012, my photos were displayed as part of an exhibition for new photographers at the SoHo Gallery for Digital Art in New York City (now the SoHo ArtHouse). I began shooting freelance in 2014, and a year later I assisted my first event with USA Today Sports Images at the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes. I also photographed the 2015 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Shootout, and was part of a photography team assigned to cover the 140th Westminster Kennel Dog Show in New York City. In 2016 I joined the USA Today Sports Images photography team, and now I regularly cover major sporting events in the New York Metropolitan area.
